I am the author of the first book-length history of Gibbs and do not have an official relationship with Perdoceoed, the new name of the last parent company. However, I am very much pleased to point graduates in the correct direction.
Start at the records office: [email protected]. An auto-reply outlines all the processes, fees, time frames and mentions name changes. All the forms are attached.
Please note, Gibbs changed its name in 2010 to Sanford-Brown College. Therefore, the request needs to be made under that school name. In other words, use the name Sanford-Brown and your campus.
Student Accounts and Loans
Questions about student accounts and loans for Gibbs and Sanford-Brown should be addressed to student accounts.
- Finding Gibbs graduates from your year
At a recent Gibbs event two graduates from the same year were present. They had not met each other until that evening because the work load was so heavy. You knew the people in your own class unless you lived in the Boston, Chicago, or New York dormitories. I am going to add a post for each campus and let you see whether you can find people. I suggest that you give your name and program. Let’s see whether this works. If you also want to give what part of the country you live in now, be my guest.

Everyone keyboards now. Here is a real keyboard typewriter. A typewriter patented in 1857 by a doctor from Newport, Rhode Island, has a keyboard that looks like a piano keyboard. It was called the “literary typewriter.” There are examples at the Newport Historical Society and at the Smithsonian. Check it out by clicking on Smithsonian.
Katharine Gibbs decided how to spell her name and recreated major problems for her students and the public. These students at North Conway, New Hampshire, on a skiing trip in 1955 are holding a sign that says Katherine Gibbs School.
